The Autodromo Nazionale Monza, home of the Italian Formula One Grand Prix, will be hosting the 2017 italian Brompton World Championship! Up to 200 participants will have the privilege to ride on one of the most famous and oldest racing tracks in the world: two full laps and a Junior lap for a total of 14km. The male and female winner will win a spot in the Brompton World Championship Final in central London on Saturday the 29th of July. Don’t forget to dress up for the best dressed competition. The Brompton World Championship returns to North America this summer, and it’s coming to New York City! The uniquely competitive and singularly sartorial event will be held during this year’s Harlem Skyscraper Cycling Classic. The race will begin at 2:15 pm sharp. Donning their finest formalwear, competitors will take off with a Le Mans-style start, running, unfolding and mounting their Bromptons, before racing ten laps around Manhattan’s Marcus Garvey Park. Transportation Marcus Garvey Park is located near many public transit options, including the 125th Street stops of the 2/3 and 4/5/6 trains, as well as the Harlem-125th St Metro North station. Prizes The fastest male and female from the singles category will automatically qualify for the BWC 2017 Final to be held in London, England on July 29. Details & reminders Bromptons only! Competitors must own, borrow, or rent a Brompton bike. The race begins at 2:15pm. Dress to impress: no visible lycra allowed. Suit jackets, collared shirts, and ties required. Helmets are a must! Registrants must pick up their race credentials on the day of the race between 11am and 1:30pm. Must sign participation waiver to receive race credentials. The event begins with a Le Mans style start: Run, unfold, ride. Race course: 8.3 miles (10 laps) around Marcus Garvey Park Categories: Male, Female, and Vets Singles, Team and, of course, Best Dressed. The Brompton World Championship is back! We are excited to announce that Prudential RideLondon cycling festival will again be hosting the Brompton World Championship Final in central London on Saturday 29 July. The iconic race course covers 8 laps around St James’ Park, past Buckingham Palace and down The Mall. Competitors start the race with a Le Mans-style dash, unfolding their bikes before taking on the 16km circuit. The fastest person to complete the race then ends the race. The dress code is city-chic with lycra sportswear most definitely not permitted. The ballot for entry is now closed, good luck to all those who applied. The 2016 final was the best yet with riders from 34 countries travelling to London to participate. It was a star-studded line up including retired British Cyclists David Millar and Michael Hutchinson, Paralympic cyclist Tom Staniford as well as a team of BBC journalists! We also had the national champions from 12 BWC Final qualifying events. Two-time Brompton World Champion Mark Emsley stormed to a third victory in 00:25:54 while the women’s reigning champ Isabel Hastie also defended her title in an exciting photo finish with a time of 00:28:09. This year’s Swiss Brompton World Championships takes place in our capital Bern in partnership with a Carfree Street Festival. In this rather unusual race we value sportsmanship, fun and appearance (in shirt, jacket and tie) just as much as winning if not more. Winners of the 5 x 2km circuit race will qualify for the BWC final in London 2018. The first prize is a trip to London plus entry and starting fee to the event. Starting price: CHF 50 – this includes: Goody bag Prizes for the fastest three men and women racers. 1st prize winners will get a trip to the London BWC final 2018 including qualification and admission to the final.
